Monday morning

Photo this Monday morning just after 8.

I opened the cat-flap for Frimousse at about 6:30. He prefers his garden to the litter-box by far! Then he stayed lying under the balcony for more than an hour, watching birds, I think. Just before eight he came in to eat and drink. Very little food but better than none. He went out again to the far end of his garden, where he often catches rats. He doesn’t look like a cat at death’s door this morning!

I won’t tell you hour by hour, nor even day by day the end of the life of our sweet Frimousse. There can’t be good news. We hope that he will be with us as long as possible, without suffering.

This week will be difficult. On Wednesdays Frimousse’s doctor doesn’t work at her surgery. On Thursday and Friday we’ll have to leave Frimousse alone in the house for some time. Let’s hope his condition doesn’t deteriorate by Saturday – and then the week-end is another problem…

This is how it goes – a roller coaster, made worse by the fact that you “know” what is coming, and he – has his own way of dealing with it. Yesterday, trying to hide, this morning acting as usual. Bless his heart (and yours) as this journey continues. He seems to be content with his lot. Courage and love to both of you, soft forehead kisses (as permitted !) and love to Frimousse !

It is possible he may choose to start his journey when you are away, not out of stress or loneliness but because he doesn’t want you to see it (humans definitely do this – you walk out of the hospital room to ask a nurse a question, come back and the loved one has gone.)You should not worry about this part of the equation. You have given him as much love and care as possible. He knows you have done / are doing right by him ! (Of course you will worry – no way to stop it.)

Roller-coaster, exactely. This morning he is looking quite fine. We’ll try to be away for not too long.
You seem to get up quite early to write comments at this time – I mean your time!

5 am to .do chores and get to work by 7. Usually I am at work when we talk, but a day off yesterday and today !
I always worry, even for my 4-5 hours at work, especially if some kitty wasn’t eating that morning or one of the outside cats did not show up.
Hope the day goes well !

He looks so good! But yes, what a rollercoaster – many of us have been there and we send purrs for all the worry and emotions you are going through. In the meantime, Frimousse, get those rats!

He was all right yesterday. Apart from the fact I had to take him inside when it was nearly dark – he didn’t want to get in. After a quiet night, he is rather fine this morning. But he’s just nibbled a little so far. He’s in the garden now. No sunshine.

We didn’t ask the vet. We have full confidence in her. So whatever medicine she uses, we agree. To boost his appetite was necessary. But I don’t know how long the effect will last…
      Purrs, Timmy!
