June

Nostalgia prohibited.

Nevertheless trees have grown, others have been felled. The heifers I can see grazing from our window are not the same as those I could see last year and the years before – those were turned into milk-producing machines and then into steak and roast beef. Plume died a year ago. Frimousse, RouXy and Tigri no longer come on the table when they smell the food they like. And my eyes have become much older.

A Black Day…

A black day for America, a black day for the world. Let’s dare to be altruistic.

Repelling of Obamacare, quitting Paris climate agreement. How sad! The president of the United States shows no compassion for the people of our times, but depriving them of healthcare, and no compassion for future generations by depriving them of a good planet. But let’s not lose courage. Let’s remember Marthin Luther King : “Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness.”

For things truly to change, we must dare to embrace altruism, dare to take the fate of future generations seriously, and dare to proclaim that altruism is not a luxury, but a necessity.
