Tulips, daffodils, pansies

On the left, tulips and daffodils for RouXy. On the right yellow pansies for Frimousse. In between, Christmas roses, snowdrops and crocuses for Tigri.

There was a time when the three of them would wish a “Happy birthday” to their Mistress…

Now, nothing but memories of a happy past…

What a beautiful garden – so full of memories – and love !
The card from all three is beautiful too !

It is NOT the brightest part of our garden, but now it is the most intimate one. In the autumn we’ll plant new bulbs – crocuses, snowdrops, daffodils, tulips – on the three places. And probably some pensies too, because their flowers last for a long time and they are frost-resistant.
Our cat-filled life span is over though. A very happy period.
      That’s life.

Sunshine this morning. Frimousse would be outside, under the balcony, probably. In a quarter of an hour I would go and take RouXy out of the basement where he spent his nights…

          Hi!
The system is called PetSafe Containment System. It is available in Canada.
Frimousse had the system for small dogs – dogs for 3.6 kg and up, they say. The In-Ground Fence System.
There is a wireless fence system that creates a circular boundary. But I’m pretty convinced it can’t be efficient with cats.
You install a transmitter plugged in the mains through an adaptor.
From the transmitter a wire goes round the garden and comes back to the transmitter. The wire acts as an antenna. The cat has a receiver on a collar. When he comes near the wire he can hear beeps (warning). If he comes nearer he receives small electric shocks – nothing really harming, I’ve experienced it!
I join a plan to show how the wire was installed here. We had to have a double loop since the wire could not go straight to the receiver at the end of the loop. It would have been impossible for the cats to get in and out of the… house!
We took advantage of the two loops to have one wire (inside a sheath) in the ground and the other attached to the fence about 1.20 m from the ground. Impossible for the cats to climb the fence!
Both wires cross the lane in the ground, 50 cm apart. The lane is unpaved.
Our garden is fenced but we could not fence the public lane! So I laid hoses on the ground at the place the wires are under the lane, to mark them. After a few weeks the hoses were no longer necessary.
If a garden is not totally fenced, I think one can set tall flower pots every meter or so and have the wire pass from one pot to the other. I strongly advise not to have the wire in the ground in that case.
Some may find the receiver rather bulky but I can assure Frimousse and Tigri got used to it very rapidly. And it is much less bulky than a car tire….
          Any question?
          Good luck!

thanks for the explanation – i will check it out– did you install the wire in the ground or did someone else do it?

The WIRELESS system is not suitable for cats, I believe. since it protects a circular area. and for cats the boundaries have to be materialized in some way..
The in-ground system was nearly fautless for Frimousse and Tigri.

It is essential to be physically present for a few days until the cat has clearly understood where the limits are, especially if she/he is used to going anywhere before having the system fitted.
